Tribute to Colin from Jeannie and Geoff at Colin's service on 20th November 2020

Created by Julie 3 years ago

Geoff and I have been close friends with Colin and Sue for quite a few years. We've enjoyed some really good times with them both. I think I first met Sue when she joined the same dog training club with Georgie their boxer. Georgie would come and stay with us whenever Colin and Sue went away on holiday.

Colin and Geoff became friends when they came to dog club socials. That grew into a pint in Wednesday evenings at the Crown or the Cider Shed. As their friendship grew Colin invited Geoff to their apartment in Fuengirola doing a few odd jobs in the mornings then sightseeing in the afternoons. In the evenings they ambled along to a bar or restaurant for a meal and just a FEW beers (we were told) to end the day nicely. On one occasion for some reason Geoff stumbled on the way home cutting his knee but fortunately Colin was there to help him up. A bit like the when a chair broke in a bar that Colin was sitting on and he tipped backwards hitting his head, not badly fortunately. They always looked out for each other.

These trips became a regular jaunt a couple of times a year, even after the apartment was sold. Colin would excitedly phone as soon as the flights became available and check the dates with Geoff to book their favourite place which was Club La Costa, then their next trip was booked.

One one occasion Geoff took Colin to our timeshare in Fuertaventura that is known as the windy island where you catch the sun without knowing it! Within hours Colin couldn't believe he had burned the top of his head and it was very sore for the rest of the week. The apartment only had one twin bedroom and the maid (I think got the wrong impression) and kept pushing the beds together. Geoff said it didn't look good with Colin keeping his blindfolds on the bedpost. They had a great holiday with Geoff taking him to the local haunts.

We have been priviledged to be invited to celebrate some special occasions that Sarah Paul and Julie have arranged for their Mum and Dad and thank you for your kindness and hospitality. One memorable occasion was when Colin and Sue invited us for a Champagne breakfast at their place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It made us feel so warm to have friends like them.

Colin we will miss you terribly, a good friend, kind and generous person. We will always remember the good times we have enjoyed with you and Sue.
